The Fool Tarot Meaning
Upright Keywords: Beginnings · Innocence · Spontaneity · A Free Spirit
Reversed Keywords: Holding Back · Recklessness · Naivety · Fear of Jumping
A young traveler stands at the very edge of a sunlit cliff, looking up toward the sky rather than down at the drop, carrying a small white rose of innocence and a light bindle while a small white dog barks at his heels.
The Fool Upright
When The Fool appears upright, it marks a major archetypal threshold governed by Uranus: beginnings, innocence, spontaneity, a free spirit. Rather than a passing mood, this card signals a structural shift in how you and the other person relate to truth and desire.
The Fool Reversed
When The Fool appears reversed, the energy turns inward or resists its natural movement—manifesting as holding back, recklessness, naivety, fear of jumping. Notice where fear or pride is blocking the next honest step.
What They Feel When The Fool Appears
They feel excited, unguarded, and drawn to the novelty of you—though they are living in the present moment rather than planning five years ahead.
The Fool for Getting Back Together
A fresh, unscripted restart is possible only if both of you drop the old scorecards and stop rehashing the past.
